Southill Primary School

"A caring, family school"

Class Information

There are three classes at Southill School - Martins is the nursery and reception class,
Swallows is the Year 1 and 2 class and Swifts is the Year 3 and 4. This is a half form entry
school so each year group has 15 pupils and nursery has 11 in any session.

The school has a council which is led by Ms Calder on a regular basis each term. Children
have the chance to evaluate the school with specific feedback on their lessons, the play and
lunch times, friendships and sport and enrichment. Our pupil feedback is key to improving
our school. They organise events such as film nights and discos.

All classes go on trips each term. These are sometimes local walks and to the local area,
sometimes for sports events to the local schools and sometimes to places further afield. All
trips are curriculum linked and we are incredibly fortunate that the costs of most of these
are kept down by our wonderful parent association FoSLS with their regular fundraising
events.

We have enrichment during the school day linked to our priority of improving mental health
and wellbeing. These are  choir, mindfulness and environmental club where children learn
about the seasons, growing things and their link to the outside. We also have events such as
a whole school camp fire instead of an indoor assembly and half termly fruit kebabs on
offer (again supported by FoSLS).
