Safeguarding is of paramount importance at Southill Lower School.

We have a number of members of staff who are trained to be 'Designated Safeguarding Leads' and all our staff receive regular training on safeguarding.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead at Southill Lower School is the Headteacher, James Adkins.

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads across the federation who have also undertaken the Designated Person training, are:

  • Mrs Tenille Rimmer (Interim Deputy Headteacher)
  • Mrs Read (Interim Assistant Headteacher)
  • Mrs Piera-Harris (Interim Assistant Headteacher)

The nominated Governor for Safeguarding is Andy Williams.

In addition the following members of staff have undertaken Safer Recruitment training:

  • Mr James Adkins (Executive Headteacher)
  • Mrs Clare Francis (Office Manager)

Equally the following members of the school have undertaken training in managing allegations of abuse against teachers and other staff:

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, staff at Southill have undertaken core WRAP (Prevent) training.  This was last repeated for all staff at both Derwent and Southill Lower Schools in spring 2020.
