Southill Primary School

"A caring, family school"

Uniform

Our School uniform helps to give an identity and the children a sense of pride in our School.

It also avoids the “What do I wear today?” question.

Only book bags may be purchased from the School with all the rest of the uniform available on-line (see link below) or through visiting the Beats Uniform Shop in Hitchin.

The School colour is blue.

Summer:

  • Blue sweatshirt or cardigan with the Southill logo
  • Blue and white checked dresses may be worn for the summer months (generally May to September).
  • Grey or black shorts / grey or black trousers
  • Plain white/grey/black short or knee length socks (not over the knee) or grey or black tights

Winter:

  • Blue sweatshirt or cardigan with the Southill logo
  • Grey skirt / grey pinafore dress / grey or black shorts / grey or black trousers
  • White blouse / shirt or polo shirt, with or without the Southill logo
  • Plain white/grey/black short or knee length socks (not over the knee) or grey or black tights

All skirts and dresses must be knee length and provide appropriate dignity. Shorts, even when these are worn over tights, should be of an appropriate length (mid-thigh). Trousers or good quality leggings must be full length and leggings/tracksuit bottoms without logos except SMALL sports logos (eg the Nike symbol) are acceptable for PE.

PLEASE MARK ALL CLOTHING AND POSSESSIONS CLEARLY and encourage your child to dress themselves from an early age, even though it takes them a little longer than with your help.

Footwear:

All footwear should be flat, black and appropriate for school. No trainers, crocs or heeled footwear. Trainers and plimsoles ONLY for PE / sports activities.

P.E. Games Kit

Children need the following items:

  • White t-shirt with Southill logo
  • Black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms
  • Black or blue hoodie with no large writing or logos
  • Plimsolls or Non-Marking Trainers

Leggings and tracksuit bottoms should be full length and are only permitted for PE.

Children should bring their named PE kit into school at the start of each Term.  We encourage you to keep your child’s PE kit in school so that it is available if there are any changes to the PE timetable.  Kit can be taken home at half term for washing.

For outdoor work, track suits may be worn but are not a necessity.  Verrucas should be covered during P.E. lessons.  Earrings should not be worn.  Long hair should be tied back.

Sweatshirts, cardigans, PE t-shirts and PE bags are available to purchase directly from our uniform supplier "Beat School Uniform" or in their shop based in Hitchin (address details can be found on their website)
