Derwent Lower School is a good school (Ofsted 2018),

with children at the heart of everything we do.

We are a welcoming, inclusive school. We have beautiful, extensive grounds that are set in a semi-rural environment in Henlow.

 

Southill Lower School is a good school (Ofsted 2021),

which nurtures values, grows inspiration and raises aspirations.

We are a small, friendly school. We have an idyllic rural setting in grounds owned by the Whitbread estate in the stunning village of Southill.  Our Ofsted report says that "Classrooms and corridors are filled with Laughter".

In May 2019, Southill Lower School federated with Derwent Primary School. Derwent is a friendly, inclusive school with beautiful, extensive grounds located in a semi-rural environment in Henlow, approximately 10 minutes from Southill Lower School.

  The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All appointments are conditional and subject to an enhanced DBS check.

 

2 x Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeships

Required:  September 2022

Salary:  National Minimum Wage - Apprenticeship

Hours:  Monday to Friday 8.40am - 12.00pm / 12.30pm – 3.40pm

Term time only plus 5 training days

Contract Type:  21 Months

Learning Support Assistant 

 Based at Southill Lower School

Part-time 32.5 hours per week (8.45am - 12.00pm / 12.30pm - 3.45pm  – 6.5 hours a day)

Monday-Friday term time only (plus five training days)

Level 1 points 1-3 or above depending on experience (£9.67 - £9.96 per hr)

Closing date:  Sunday 10 July 2022

Interview date:  Week commencing Monday 18 July 2022

Start Date:  1 September 2022

 

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistants to join our federation, initially based at our Southill Lower School site from September 2022.  Job share would be considered.

The post is to support children with social and communication difficulties.   The successful candidate will be expected to deliver specific communication and sensory programmes such as PECS and Intensive Interaction.  Training will be provided by the school.

The post is part time, term time only, plus five training days.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Enjoy a varied workload
  • Be able to work on their own initiative but also be a committed team player.
  • Have high levels of motivation and be able to engage and inspire

Candidates must:

  • Be able to lead children by example
  • Be passionate about working with children
  • Have a kind and supportive approach towards children
  • Be well organised and motivated
  • Have the ability to foster good relationships with parents and carers
  • Ensure safeguarding and the welfare of children is a priority
  • Have a good level of understanding of special educational needs
  • Hold or be willing to train in Paediatric First Aid

We are looking to appoint a Qualified Level 2 as Learning Support Assistant to join our federation from September 2022.  The position is a job share position covering support for the child at our extended services as well as the school day.  The successful candidate will be predominantly based at our Southill Lower School site to support a named child with Special Educational Needs.  

The post is part time, term time only, plus five training days.

The successful candidate will:
